This is an in-depth analysis of the teachings of Warith Deen Mohammed spanning 33 years and extracted from his books, writings, poems, and more than 1,500 sermons and lectures from 1975 to 2008.
Imam Warith Deen Mohammed was the leader of a large community of Black American Muslims. During his lifetime, and after his death, he amassed a large group of supporters and loyal followers who consider him to be the reviver of Islam. He also has his share of critics.
It is a criticism of some of the major errors of W.D. Mohammed that have led his followers away from the pure teachings of Islam. These errors are in the essential matters of faith, such as belief in Allah, the Qur’an, the angels, the jinn, the prophets, life after death, and much more.
I was accused of trying to make Islam palatable to the Americans at the expense of Islam. But I accept that kind of criticism and, in fact, I told the editor of our paper that they should put the letter in the paper. Publish it. I accepted the criticism and I appreciate criticism. I want to be criticized.

Allah does not dwell within His creation. Allah is above His Throne in a manner that befits His majesty. He is separate and distinct from His creation. But His knowledge is everywhere, His sight and hearing are everywhere, and His power and control are everywhere. As for the statement of Allah: “And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart. (Sura Al-‘Anfāl 8:24) The student of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) Ismael ibn Abdur Rahman as-Suddi said: “Allah intervenes between the person and his heart thus he is not able to believe or disbelieve except with His permission.
Warith Deen incorrectly interpreted this verse alleging that Allah resides within the creation.
It is alleged that in 1976 Warith Deen abandoned the teaching of his father Elijah Muhammad and led half a million members of the Nation of Islam into mainstream Orthodox Islam.
But in a 1978 interview with Johnny Barnes Selvin of KTVU News Warith Deen acknowledges he has not completely rejected the belief that Fard Muhammad was Allah in the person. He said, “There is something true about it”.
